What a weekend that was

Well what a fantastic day/weekend was had by all on the Clubs double anniversary.
I am sure we were all glad to see the Old boys back on their stamping ground.

Wonderful Rugby contested hard and with Great spirit.
I am sure we would all like to say a Big Congratulations and thanks to all who worked so hard to make it happen.
Speaking of congratulations may i mention Under 11s player of the year Alfie Tolley
And most improved Player Cameron Davies both deserved winners.
I wonder if we will have any under 11s coming back as Old Boys for the 80th/4Oth celebrations.

Well the Under 11s started the season under New Managment (Ian Mann)
With additional coaches in Alan Smith and Taff Teague working along with our exsisting proven coaching team.
and ended the season as County Champions and County Plate holders .
So that worked out well then.

Have a fantastic summer and see you all when we are under 12s.

The As came out of a tough group to eventually win the Plate final well done to both sets of teams but in effect well done to a fantastic squad of boys.Over the season they have all grown into a well organised disciplined and enthusiastic set of lads.
Congratulations to them and their coaches

Chinor and Witney an early Easter present

Another good turnout yesterday resulted in us putting out 2 teams, both of which performed exceptionally well. Our A's only played the 1 match on the grounds that the opposition for the second match were not enough of a challenge. They played Chinnor and won 10-5.
The B's played Chinnor B first and won 15-5 and then played Witney A's (note the spelling this time) and drew 10-10. Good performances from both teams. Well done to all the players.
Next weekend 12th there is no rugby as we will be in Wales. For those not travelling, have a well earned weekend off and for those who are going we'll see you all at Morfa Bay for about 1ish on Friday.
Have an enjoyable Easter break and we'll see everybody back at Chesterton on 19th for the final training session of the season.

Cheers

The Referees A

Coach usually taken from one of the teams in our pool sometines they get it wrong. But as always the under 11s play on in the spirit of the game.
Yesterday we took a squad to to Banbury for their annual festival. We were in a large pool of 7 teams. The team achieved 3 wins, 2 defeats and a drawer to finish 3rd overall. The opposition and ground conditions were very tough but the players stuck to their task and came away from a few brutal contests with their heads held high. Thanks again to all the parents for their fabulous support and to the players for constantly bouncing back and putting in some good performances. We picked up a number of injuries but I'm happy to report that Garin was released from hospital last night with muscle strains to his neck and upper back. The rest of the scratches, bruises and knocks should hopefully heal by next Sunday.
Game 1/.3-1 v Buckingham
2-0 at 1/2 time scoreres Max Mcminn with a strong forwards driving try and Garin Nichols with a great individual run from the 1/2 way line.2nd 1/2. Buckingham pulled one back and Alfie Tolley placed down after again a very forward orientated try.
Game 2/0-1v Chipping Norton (see heading).
Bicester battled bravely forward giving little ground all match.
Game 3/0-1 v Banbury(same ref).
Again Bicester played strong and fair Rugby but came away on the wrong side of this rubber.
Game 4/ 4-0 Oxford Quins.
2 trys in the first half from Carl Taylor coming from a charge down which Carl grounded.and a fantastic run from 1/2 way to touchdown.
2 Trys in the 2nd 1/2 from Max again with another strong forwards drive and Garin with another exposive run from 1/2 way.Bicester were in control all game.
Game 5/4-0 v Widnes.
3 in the first 1/2 from Harrison Nash and Rhys Warriner with another great run from 1/2 way and Ethan Guillan from just off his own 22.
The 2nd half was finshed off by a driving Carl Talor(see photo).
..
In the last game Against Stranford in the vale Bicester needed a win to get the plate but could only manage a 2nd 1/2 scorcher from Daniel Walker after going 1-0 down in the first 1/2 which was delayed after a nasty incident in a maul resulting in Garin Nichols being stretchered off . 1-1
With Stanford taking the plate.

Tom palmer with the boys at the Bs Festival

This picture was taken from the wasps website.Tom.Sting and The Guinness Premiership came along to the Festival at Chesterton on Sunday 22nd March.
Although two of the other teams expected to play did not turn up on the day, the under 11s still played a round robin event with Banbury and Tring.Unfortunately Banbury and Tring sent very strong B squads and Bicester went through the event without a win.
Bicester played extremely well and can hold their heads high with pride.

Our A string attended the Tring festival yesterday. We were put in a tough group with Tring, Cheshunt, Harpenden, Chinnor and Milton Keynes. The lads came away with 2 wins and 3 drawers, scoring 10 tries and conceding just 2. Tring won the group which left us joint runners up with Cheshunt. Both teams scored the same number of tries and conceded the same number. Although Cheshunt did lose a game, the decision as to who went through was made on the toss of a coin and we lost out unfortunately. All day the lads played really well and to come away from Tring undefeated is a great result.. Thanks to all the players for their efforts and a big thank you to our supporters.
Those who did not travel had a good workout at Chesterton ahead of the Bicester festival this weekend. Again, it was a good turn out and hopefully beneficial and enjoyable for the lads. Cheers

Yesterday our B squad traveled to Beaconsfield for their annual B festival. Bicester were in a pool with Fullerians, Marlow, Beaconsfield, Henley and A&C (still don't know who they are). Our lads came away with 1 draw and 4 wins, scoring 12 tries and conceding 2. Their attitude, commitment and quality of play was top drawer. A huge thanks from the coaches, firstly to the lads for their all round performance and secondly to the parents for their great support both on and off the pitch.
The players who did not travel, trained at Chesterton and I'm led to believe had a grueling 2 hour session. A good weekend all round!!!! Well done all.
Back to the top. Our A squad are travelling to Tring this weekend for a festival. The rest of the lads were supposed to be hosting Oxford and Abingdon. Both clubs have decided that in the absence of our A squads, they would prefer not to come. This leaves us with the opportunity to train at Chesterton with those lads not going to Tring. Could everybody please reply with availability by tomorrow (Tuesday) for us to arrange squads etc. I am aware of Daniel W, Jacob F, and Tom B not being able to play this week.
Regards
Ian
